Years spent in Mirror World certainly narrow one's taste, since you have to settle for whatever you can dug your teeth in.
Might even be colorblind, who knows.
Does a "bloodthirsty monster's servant" count?
The simple one:
Mirror World = good guys, the rest = not so good guys.
Gods can't save him now.
History
Born in a poor family, he has learned almost everything he knows through trial and error.
Toymaker was born in a poor family of farmers, living in the village of Fernil near the great Carnell's Crossing. He was the only child of the family. Rumor was that he had been "an accident". Times were difficult, and it was rare to settle with only one child, yet the family of Pummel did.
People had only a little money as it was, and they had to work day and night to keep themselves fed. Heavy work made Narsko's spine turn crooked. It was painful enough to prevent him from doing heavy lifting, and he couldn't be of any help at the farm. Instead he worked long days at the local inn, anything to help his family to manage.
One day there were two kingsmen from the Crossing visiting the place. They were bathing in wealth, drinking like the king himself and all too full of themselves. They started calling him names and he snapped at them. What started as an argument was fast to turn into a fistfight.
Toymaker wasn't much of a fighter, he had only ever brawled with neighbor's kids. Had the kingsmen been any less drunk, they would've surely beaten him to death. He grabbed an broken bottle and struck it in the larger man's neck. The shard were enough to break his windpipe. He'd never forget the sight of a man squirming on the floor, choking in his own blood.
He ran away. He had no idea whether he was being followed or not, nor did he have any clue where he was heading to. After what seemed like an eternity he ended up at an old farmhouse at the far end of the village. The owner was a lonely lady, who was quite shocked to see a beaten young man appear on her doorstep. She offered him a place to stay for the night, and cleaned up most of his wounds. She asked a lot of questions, Narsko didn't blame her for it, but he couldn't bring himself to answer.
He stayed at the farm for a while after that. The lady promised not to tell anyone - it actually seemed like she had no one to tell to. He knew he'd have to leave as soon as possible, to run as far away as he could, but he had never seen the world. Just wandering into the wilderness didn't seem much better option than handing himself in for a murder. There were rumors about what they did to the murderers in Crossing, that they were left to rot in some nightmare world.
He was planning to head south, where most of the people travelled. Maybe he could join one of the groups who wouldn't ask any questions as long as you could work. The old lady didn't really talk with him, she went to the village center for the day and came back by nightime. One evening she came to him, telling him that his parents were looking for him. She also said that whole village knew what had happened, before encouraging him to go home.
He did. He sneaked back home through the backdoor, hoping no one had noticed. He'd only say goodbye. If he stayed, he'd risk his parents' safety. The expression on his parents' face was nothing he had expected. His mom was smiling, but her eyes were not. His father's stare was cold, he didn't even try to hide it. Before he could start explaining, guards charged at him from the shadows. It became clear that his parents had decided to sell him out. He was restrained and dragged outside of the house as he screamed and pleaded for them to not let him be taken.
He was transported to Carnell's Crossing, tortured for the whole journey by the guards. They noticed his aching back and put pressure on it to see him wail. They pulled his hair and clawed the old wounds open. His few days in prison didn't treat him any better. The day for his "excecution" came sooner than he had expected. After endless speech from the king he was sentenced to death.
To say he was afraid would be an understatement. He was terrified and angry. The trial was only for the show, he had known his fate from the day he ended up in the prison. Everyone there had talked about it, the king's way of sending everyone he could into "Mirror World". Narsko had never felt so much hate for someone. He didn't deserve to die before the maniac that had the throne.
He swore he'd outlive the king.
