She was born to Dustin and Eden, along with her twin sister, Opal. Her father was both physically and mentally abusive toward all of them, especially her mother. She never understood why, maybe he wanted a son. Her mother, sister and herself stuck together.

One day, when she was 3, her father became extremely upset over Opal. She asked why he was mean to them, he replied by saying they shouldn't have been born and it was a mistake to marry Eden. When she tried to hit him, he punched her in the head, knocking her to the ground. As she started to bleed internally, Ayana tried to rush over to her and help but Dustin threw her up against a wall and turned his attention back to Opal. As he started to hit her over and over, Eden decided it was time she fought back and rushed in with the kitchen knife. She attacked him, slashing at his throat. He took the knife away from her and was about to stab her neck before Ayana, having run to the kitchen, stabbed his leg with a fork, causing him to drop the knife. This gave Eden enough time to grab the knife and stab Dustin in the throat. Eden then got up and started to cuddle Opal in her arms, alongside Ayana, knowing she had died already. As she looked at Ayana, tears streaming down both of their faces, she knew she had to make sure Ayana lived out the rest of her life out with a family that could take care of her properly.

Eden took Ayana and headed to the one orphanage near them. When they arrived, Eden dropped her off, kissing her goodbye and left without a word. Ayana, still crying, was welcomed with open arms. She became close to one of the orphans, Lily, to the point where they called each other sister.

When Karla and Tristan came to the orphanage to adopt, they originally were just going to pick Lily but, seeing Ayana run up to Lily, tightly grab her and asked them to not take her sister away from her, convinced them to adopted both Lily and Ayana. She was 4 while Lily was 8.

Later that year, she made friends with Cole, the son of her parents's friends, Jasmine and Hunter. Cole introduced her to Dakota 2 years later. She also was introduced to Seth by her mother the next year. She lived happily until a year later...
