She was born a single child to Axel Blake and Faith Deare-Blake and had a blind eye. Despite this, she was always a happy-go-lucky type of girl, even when she was picked on for it. She never let this bother her as her parents ingrained in her a philosophy of forgiveness, no matter who or what the person did.

One day, when she was 23, she met Kaden out in the woods close to her home. He seemed nice at first, talking and listening to her. Eventually, he blindfolded her, lead her deeper into the woods, and shocked her hands, burning them horribly. As she was in too much shock and pain to fight back or try to take her blindfold, all she felt were 3 large slashes across her neck. She decided to play dead, hoping for him to leave. He eventually left and she slowly made her way back to her house. Her parents freaked out and rushed to find a healer. Her parents forced her to learn how to handle a dagger, to make sure she could fight back should she ever be attacked again. She continued on with her life, wondering why and how Kaden did it.

When she turned 24, she found Kaden badly hurt out in the same woods. He initially tried to attack her but Talia cut part of his face with her dagger, revealing to her that he wasn't human. As she tried to help him, he questioned why she was helping him, after what he had done. She said that no one should be left alone to die. She thought about forgiving him too, as she had with many others, though she didn't say that to him. This shocked him, and with that, she eventually coaxed him to let her help him.

After that, they slowly started to become friends. One day, Kaden told her about how he was going to kill her and how bad he felt. He asked if she could forgive him and she said she already had. With that, he smiled his first genuine smile.

After spending time with Kaden, her parents tried to convince her to stay away from Kaden and stop their communication because they didn't like him and feared for her safety. She tried to convince them that he changed but the didn't believe her. She and Kaden met in secret for about a month. During that time, her parents divorced. Soon after, she ran away with Kaden and they lived as nomads, growing even closer.
