at Ilvermorny & Hogwarts

Aphrodite “Dité” Ferris was born as Ivan Ryder Ferris in March 1979. She was left on a doorstep of a children’s foster home as a baby in the city of Phoenix, Arizona. Despite this, the establishment was at full capacity, and was therefore unable to take the child in.
Over the years, Dité was passed throughout foster homes in the area, due not only to their troublemaking tendencies, but her gender identity and Arizona’s high rate of foster children.
At age 10, Aphrodite was placed in her final foster home, and a year and a half later, was adopted by a lesbian, no-maj couple, Mara Phillips and Leo Gomez (despite being wed for just under two years at the time, they had not taken each other’s surnames).
Leo and Mara were accepting of their daughter's gender identity when Dité came out of the closet weeks later and supported her growing out her hair and dressing femininely. Notably, this is unlike any foster family that she had lived with.
Dité was enrolled in public schooling until the age of 12, when she received a letter inviting her to Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Originally believing it to be a prank, the letter was thrown away, and once again after re-receiving the letter. However, Ilvermorny's third correspondence came in the form of Headmaster Alexis Lambkins in person, and she explained that these letters were no prank.
At first, the headmaster was civil with Dité and her family. That is, until Headmaster Lambkins attempted to find Dité's biological parents in hopes of relocating her away from her no-maj mothers and their community. After some digging, however, Lambkins discovered that only one of Dité's parents was a wizard; the other was a no-maj.
Later, on a return trip to deliver Dité's second-hand things, Lambkins would make the best of her failed plan by attempting to plant the seed of disgust in Ditéʼs mind, directed at her parents due to their no-maj status.
This would also fall through, as Dité would begin shouting at Lambkins, raging against her and cussing her out.
Lambkins, who had previously thought of Dité as a charming girl, left in a huff.
Weeks later, as Dité arrived at Ilvermorny, two major events would greet her: her sorting, and the other students' and staff member's reaction to her being there.
Upon entering the schoolʼs main hall and standing on the gordanian knot etched into the floor, two of the four house mascots would react: the Wampus, sending an echoing roar about the castle, and the Thunderbird, each flap of its wings created a small boom of thunder. Dité would eventually choose Thunderbird. Soon after, though it would come as a bit of an understatement, Dité would be chosen by her wand.
In the meantime, after Lambkins' failures in converting Dité and subsequent cursing out, the headmaster herself had leaked Ditéʼs blood status to Ilvermornyʼs staff, which eventually made its way to the student body. This threw Dité directly in danger, as American magic users were notorious for their cruelty towards non-"true-maj" members.
Dité would quickly piece this together, seeing as every person walking Ilvermorny's halls either were disgusted at her presence or too afraid of being shunned themselves to do anything about it.
This led to obvious bias against her and severe bullying, but also a good deal of bottled up snarkiness and bitterness. Despite all of this, Dité is caring and has her head on straight, these parts of her magnified due to her recent transfer to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Scotland, where she finds genuine acceptance wherever she looks.

• dité can sing pretty well. she only uses her voice for karaoke and she has no desire to pursue it as a career.
