Lane is a little emotionally removed from most people in his life. He'll be your friend. He will act very friendly. He will genuinely like you. He also will not engage more than necessary, or get emotionally invested in you. It's nothing personal, he's just an introvert.
He's a very simple person in principle. He makes sure his basic needs are met. He is very neat. He finds comfort in doing menial tasks. He's thoughtful and logical, but not coldhearted of unemotional. If you were just looking at his life through a window, you'd think he was having a perfectly average and complacent yet happy existence. And you're not reeaaally wrong. He just also has ADHD, the special brand that uses executive dysfunction to get a lot done. (Don't want to write your brother? Clean your entire house and your neighbors as well).
Time blindness is vastly overshadowed by time anxiety, burned into him by the military. He's chronically EXACTLY on time, and nothing makes his palms sweat more.

He has special interests, and those are the two games he has close to 4000 hours in each, and anything airplane/sky related. All his calendars are clouds and skylines. He has airplane socks. He has model airplanes and paint by number skys-scapes.

In a nutshell, he's a true neutral NPC, but all by choice

He has served in a variety of places as a fighter pilot. He was deployed to work for NATO for most of the latter half of his career. When that contract expired, he was put behind a desk for a few months before the war in America broke out.

He's got a teaching certificate in early childhood education. He was gonna be a preschool teacher :)

Lane was born to a two-child household. He's the oldest, by one year. His parents knew they only wanted two kids. One of his parents was androgynous, and he and was named genderlessly more or less so he could choose his own name and identity later in life. Lane never changed his name, and Oscar, his adopted brother, similarly, identifies with his birth-gender.

Lane was homeschooled until high school, and learned the ways of the world at his own pace and in his own way. His parents let him learn what he wanted when, and he was just fine with that. He and Oscar were VERY close growing up, and to this day the two are the best of friends.

Lane joined the Navy and completed training to become a fighter pilot. he got hired on for many years as a pilot for NATO.
