Straight with some bounce, cut in a jaunty bob
- Annie is blind in her right eye and has some minor to moderate scarring down the side of her face due to the accident at the pool party.
Annie is small and slim with an elegant neck and an oddly lanky build despite her short stature. She has light brown hair cut into a short bob and blue eyes with short lashes. Her right eye is actually glass, replaced after the accident at the pool party wherein she suffered scarring to her face and injury to her eyes. She has a narrow nose and thin lips. She was pretty much set to be the next big thing in Hollywood with both the good looks and the energetic personality to stand out in the crowd, but this was cut short after her injury, which resulted in facial scarring.
Somewhat high pitched and always full of energy. That kindergarten teacher sort of voice--it's hard to imagine her being stern, let alone angry.
Nature
Annie is kindhearted and naive, with her eyes full of stars and her head a bit in the clouds. She struggles to assert himself since all her life she's been told what to do and how to act, and the few times she has asserted herself have ended badly for her, creating a self-fulfilling cycle. She has the idea that if she complies and goes with the flow, everything will work out for her.
She's the newest fling of Richard Whitman, who she bonded with during the production of his film Catch Me the Moon, in which she starred as Catherine Hall, a small-town girl trying to make it in the big city--somewhat autobiographical to Annie's life, which is how she got the role. Her big dreams are shattered when she gets into an argument with Augusta Martin at the party following the film's premiere, in which Richard's cheating is exposed to his wife, who lashes out at Annie and shoves her. Annie, already tipsy, falls face-first into the glass left by Molly Jones' drunken outburst earlier, resulting in facial scarring and the loss of her right eye. Annie did not press charges since she knew that Augusta didn't mean to injure her so badly and Augusta covered her medical bills, even visiting the young actress in the hospital to apologize.
As you can probably infer by her fling with her much-older director, Annie is unfortunately all too used to unhealthy relationships with men in her life, having been manipulated and abused by her high school boyfriend (who himself was in college) and growing up with an emotionally abusive father who tried to force Annie to be exactly what he wanted her to be, i.e. a meek 50s-style housewife, as he bucked against the new freedoms coming in the 60s and 70s. While Richard's interest in Annie was barely even present, she adored him and thought he was the most brilliant man in the world and an absolute visionary.
At the end of it all, Annie just wants to feel truly loved by someone and thinks that the way she can achieve that is to be an actress, since she used movies as escapism as a child and teen and because she's been taught throughout her life that no one will like her unless she's pretending to be someone she's not.
Annie copies the mannerisms of actresses in the films she watches. She's honed her laugh to what she views as the "perfect" cute giggle and always seems to be "on"--all of her mannerisms seem practiced because they are.
Singing, acting, a bit of painting. She loves watching movies, especially older romance movies and Disney animated movies, and reading romance books.
