Moriah picked her name after she transitioned and she picked it with purpose--the first name of Moriah was a name she remembered from Mass as a child, and the middle name of Renee means rebirth. In Moriah's case, it doesn't just mean rebirth in the sense that she is now living as the woman she is but in the sense that her coming out was also a rebirth of her way of life since she found her purpose soon after.

Moriah is fairly tall and has a lean, wiry build. Her skin is light brown with medium brown undertones. Her forearms are flecked with small scars and she often keeps her sleeves pulled down or wears a long-sleeved jacket to cover them. Her hair is dark brown, long, thick, and somewhat curly and she always keeps it tied back in a ponytail. Her eyes are dark brown and deep set and the skin beneath her eyes often has a greyish tinge to it.

Fairly low and a bit rough

Moriah often comes off as aloof and reserved. She's to the point and doesn't really see the point of small talk. Although she's quite intelligent, Moriah struggled with college and eventually dropped out, mostly due to the heavy expectations placed on her by her family, friends, and teachers, a pressure she felt she could never life up to. She is deeply devoted to justice as a concept and strives to do her job to the best of her ability and tries to keep some degree of optimism in the face of the corruption and brutality she sees on a daily basis. Many dismiss her as cold, missing out on the chance to get to know her further. In reality, Moriah has a strong appreciation for life--she struggled with drug abuse and addiction in her early twenties as well as homelessness and so even on the lowest days of her new life, she has some appreciation for the fact that she's employed, housed, clean, and sober. She goes out of her way to conceal her life story from others, with only her close friends knowing about what she has overcome in life and she likes it that way--it takes years for Sylvester Moretti to get any information on her past out of her. The truth is that Moriah isn't cold or aloof, she just struggles with socialization and has a difficult time trusting people given how deeply corrupt the city that she works in is--hell, even Sy is on more than one paybook and he's one of the only people she trusts.
Moriah tends to push herself to her breaking point and beyond it, trying to do so many things at once: fix the police force from the inside, bring criminals to justice and hope they can be rehabilitated, avoid being knocked off by a corrupt government official or a fellow cop for digging too deep. She's the sort of person who always has to be doing something and can't just relax--she'll never understand how people can lie about being unable to make it to work or sit around doing nothing all day. In a way, this surge of ambition is like another drug, and part of why she pushes herself so hard is because she's trying to make up for the time she feels that she wasted when she was an addict and adrift in the world, and also because she's terrified of relapsing to the point that she doesn't keep painkillers or sleeping aids in her home and doesn't even drink coffee or tea that isn't decaf.
