Overview
Roger
Disaster MC
- Lively: nickname given to him by his best friend, Dinah.
AMAB, Male, He/Him
Born 1949, 26 during the story
Name
Rawj - err
Roger
Germanic origin meaning "famed warrior" [according to Nameberry]
Looks
Human, Caucasian
5'10" ish. Pretty average, though he often looks taller because of his willowy frame and platform boots
Underweight, but not too noticably so. The alcohol and drugs have not been kind to his weight, and his ribs are clearly visible through his skin if he's caught without a shirt and stretching.
Pale white with pink-ish undertones. Will burn if he's out in the sun for more than half an hour.
pretty thin and rectangular. sharp shoulders, elbows, and knees. he tells people that his abs are well-toned and that's why he's so flat, but he's truly very malnourished.
Longer face with a pointed chin
dark blonde, though he has lighter highlights over the top
Roger's hair is about shoulder length and he's constantly trying different styles with it. when he actually has the energy to take care of himself, he likes to style it in a fluffy blowout with curtain bangs and layers. However, when he doesn't have the energy, it can be greasy and flat--sometimes almost looking wet.
a very pale blonde stubble that isn't noticeable. couldn't grow a beard if he tried.
straight and dark blonde eyebrows that he sometimes plucks to make them thinner towards the ends
big and round blue eyes. like. baby blue sort of eyes with a slight hazely center around the pupil.
straight bridge with an upturned tip
medium lips with a large smile. has an incredible pout. big teeth
depending on who he's around, he'll either be super casual and lounge across anything and everything. almost fluid like he's on a catwalk when he walks. this is what his friends call the "lively strut", ofc named after his alter-ego. when he's by himself, as just Roger, he still lounges and holds himself loosely, but there's a bit of a melancholy to it rather than an ease.
Personality
Roger is two personalities in one: the Roger underneath, and the Lively that he shows his audience. Roger himself is fairly introverted, but has never had an issue with performing or putting on a show. He doesn't talk too much, opting to be quiet and allow the other louder characters to talk over him. He has an addictive personality, which leads to him frequently abusing drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol trying to outrun what demons he carries with him. Roger has issues with religion and trusting other people, especially men. He carries guilt for who he is and therefore resents himself for what he allowed himself to become. He's always prepared to live fast and die young, making the most of what he's got without care of consequence. If he dies, so be it. That's God's plan.
Social
Born Catholic, he isn't sure what he is now
Frontman/lead singer of the Ballista Pistols, but after he retires, he becomes a farmhand at Roscoe's ranch
Red-orange
the red deserts of Arizona
History
1949
Rural town outside Indianapolis
Went to K-12 all in one school district and graduated. He didn't attend the graduation ceremony and instead got drunk in a field with some friends. Didn't bother with college.
Post-story, he settles down on Roscoe's ranch about half and hour outside Tuscon, Arizona
Family
- Betty and Donald
Roger's mother, Betty, was perhaps the kindest to him, though that wasn't saying much. Betty did very little to stop Donald's rage and abuse against his sons, but she was there with a warm cup of soup whenever she found them crying. However, this "warm" motherly figure began to melt away when she realized that her youngest son was just like her brother: a homosexual. Betty was the one who encouraged Roger to go to church and to confess and to try a girl a chance hoping that it would "fix him", but when it proved to be useless, Betty gave up and wrote her son off as good as dead.
Donald was nothing short of an abusive drunk. He was constantly ripping the belt from his jeans to beat his sons senseless if they so much as looked at him wrong. He only got crueler when the clues began to unfold and he found out what his youngest son truly was. Many times, Roger caught his parents arguing in another room about Betty's "no-good queer brother" and how Daniel deserved to get shot and killed in Belgium. He died in a drunken tractor accident shortly after Roger left, and Roger never cared enough to go back.
- Matthew
Matthew is Roger's older brother, and one that Roger has never been on good terms with. Matthew is a purist to his heart and tried to "save" Roger for a little while before declaring him a lost cause. However, Matthew happens to be a hypocrite and while Roger found fame as the frontman for the Ballista Pistols, Matthew became a bitter priest with a liquor problem, and that eventually caught up to him. Matthew died of liver failure before he was forty, and Roger still attended his funeral and ended up adopting his kids after his wife went off and married her paramour. While Matthew couldn't care if Roger lived or died, Roger cared about his brother. He would never be caught in the same room as him, but Roger cared enough to go to his funeral and take care of his children.
- Elsie May and Sadie June
Elsie and Sadie are not Roger's biological children, but rather his nieces. They were just 7 and 4 when their father's drinking habits caught up to him and he perished. Their mother went off and married the man she was having an affair with and didn't have a care of what happened to her daughters. Roger, being the next of kin, decided to take the girls with him back to Arizona and adopted them under his name.
- Uncle Daniel
Though Roger never met Daniel, he thought that Daniel was perhaps the family member Roger was closest to. Daniel served in World War II in the trenches on the Western Front. Well known to his family, Daniel was gay. Daniel's sister, Betty, tried not to talk about it, but it was an unavoidable topic. Betty was the one who received Daniel's dogtags in the mail, and while she didn't have the heart to throw them away, she did keep them. Roger found them. He knew enough about his uncle to know what he was and what happened because of it, but Roger couldn't let the dog tags go. They're now one of Roger's prized possessions.

Roscoe
Love
GAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY OH GOD HE'S SO FUCKING GAY
hopeless romantic. until he met Roscoe, he figured he would die before he ever got his shot at genuine love. Thought of himself as impure and worthy of death for his entire life because of the fact that he was gay. After he meets and loses Roscoe, he eventually comes to the conclusion that he doesn't want to die. He wants Roscoe. Only after this does he begin to work on himself and work on his self esteem.
Roscoe
He's self destructive to his core, always thinking that his partner deserves better and will destroy everything if it means they'll be better off. After he gets through this (and a whole lot of development) then he comes to terms with the fact that he's allowed to be happy and he's not a mistake/bane to society. Then he's pretty sweet, if not a bit clingy, and is scared of doing the wrong thing and ruining it all. Once he's comfortable, he's singing and making up songs and pulling his partner (Roscoe) into impromptu dances in the living room.
Other
cherry reds, sparkly silvers, denim blues,,, basically any sort of retro red/blue/white color scheme
a little too much like liquor and regret. after a show he smells of sweat and too much perfume
