Grew up in the foster system, did not have a good time, did well in school and went to college to try to make a difference, ended up in NYC working at a hospital where he meets Annie Moss working as a child life specialist maybe? Or maybe at the free clinic? Anyway they're immediately taken with each other and have a little will they won't they thing going at work and everyone can see it. He finally gets up the nerve to ask her out and she says yes. It goes well and they go back to his place to make out but he discovers her third eye and freaks out and asks her to leave, she confesses that she is in fact a nearly 200 year old vampire who encountered a man just like him over a century ago, he understandably freaks out and makes her leave. He's heartbroken and losing his mind but instead of dwelling, he decides to leave it all behind and go see the giant's causeway in ireland cuz he always wanted to see it. And why not do it now? He's still fascinated by Annie though and leaves her a portrait of herself with a message telling her he respects her work and to keep going, that he will be back and maybe he'll be ready to see her again. Idk how that plotline resolves.
