Harold’s planet and Earth year—
Lives on a planet a feasible distance from Earth to just recently be receiving ST:DS9. He dreams of being Dax. Sexy, tall, brunette human.
Timeline similar to DS9 and there is a human federation of sorts. Harold will assume things about humans and federation based upon the tv show. Those assumptions will be far from the truth.
Humans are an unsavory lot. At least the organized varieties.
Harold will want to link/ride every tall brunette he sees. They will be understandably repulsed. Make sure there is one in the ragtag pirate crew.
Do we go PG or PG-13 with this? I’m assuming an adult nerdcon audience. You?

How do you feel about sexual innuendo? I'm thinking that Harold comes across sounding randy all the time, but he's actually ignorant about sex. But one or more of the surround cast are perverts (or accustomed to them back home) and always misinterpret his intentions. "I want to ride you like Dax." "No one's riding me, mister! Especially not no donkey." So he's regularly being educated...and grossed out.
