She was born in Comoros, in Africa. When she was 4, her family (parents, 16 yo sister and 20 yo half-sister, 17 yo half-brother) left for Canada. Her mother (stepmother of eldest sister and brother) quickly died of sickness on the boat to Tanzania.They crossed Tanzania alternating between on foot and truck, going into Malawi. They lost the eldest sister to dehydration. They crossed into Zambia. But they got caught, and the father was imprisoned, leaving his son in charge of the remaining daughters. They completed the trip alone. The sister quickly lost touch with her siblings, but her half-brother took care of her for 5 years before dying of pneumonia. She lived on the streets for a very brief time before she was taken in by the Arena, where she's now lived her whole life.
There was a teen girl about her age that arrived 3 years before: Amber. She was Magic leaning Fire, like Graeme. She was charming, talented, powerful. She was perfect. Adele admired her as well, and was put in charge of her training. She believed that Amber could really do anything if she trained hard enough. So Adele pushed her, everyday harder, in her training. One day, she pushed her too far, and they both lost control. Amber was hit and the only way to heal her was to drain her of magic. Amber obviously didn't have magic after that, and became Head Cook for the Arena.
