History
Possessed at a young age by a fragment of Zompha, the goddess of order and equilibrium, after her corruption into a spirit of vengeance known as Almega, following betrayal by her sister Nizura. The fragments of Almega were spread with the intent of nurturing the vengeance and anger within their hosts, in order to create ideal conditions for the fragments to grow and strengthen before returning to the main body. Quincy was both resentful and the closest in terms of physical distance to the fragment that entered his world, which led to him becoming a host. However, most of his anger was a result of his maturing as he was going through puberty at the time, so his mind would become clearer and more reasonable as he grew older. Though his anger would still be present, he would soon learn to channel it in more positive ways as he matured, overall making a better life for himself and decreasing his rage.
All of his hard work was ruined, however, once the primary body of Almega visited his world through a rift in space-time to reclaim the fragment and harvest his anger. Finding that he was overall less angry than before, and meaning the fragment hadn't developed as hoped, Almega wrought destruction on his world, deciding that Quincy's anger would need more time to fester in a harsher environment. And just as she came, Almega disappeared through a rift once more as Quincy could only stand by and watch. His anger did in fact grow, but instead of standing by idly and loathing the world, he channeled his anger towards a greater goal as he always had, and that goal was to hunt down Almega.
He spent a great deal of time learning to control the power of the fragment within him, attempting to replicate what he witnessed from the primary body. Once he gained enough control to sense the connection between his fragment and the main body, he followed the trail left by Almega's rift travel. This would be the beginning of his multiversal journey, spanning over a thousand years. He would gain a great deal of knowledge and pain on this journey, experiencing new worlds and cultures from within a new body every time he traveled between universes and took the place of his nearest alternate reality equivalent. He would gain and lose many close bonds as he tracked down the various fragments of Almega left behind in these other worlds, and his powers would continue to grow with each fragment he absorbed once its host was defeated.
The fragment of Almega within him would gain greater individuality as it gained more substance from other absorbed fragments, eventually developing a mind of its own. It would conspire against him for quite some time with plans to nurture his vengeful feelings and eventually betray him to the primary body, feigning cooperation to gain his trust and make him vulnerable. However, while the fragment did in fact gain Quincy's trust after much time and effort, this very trust that it planned to betray would lead to the fragment's resolve wavering, as its anger would be quelled by having a companion who legitimately cared for it.
This positive emotional influence would slowly but surely affect the fragment's mindset, bringing about characteristics reminiscent from when the vengeful spirit Almega was Zompha, goddess of order and equilibrium. It realized that Quincy succeeding in his vengeance would neither satisfy him nor end the cycle of anger to bring about balance, only bring about more anger and destabilize balance even further. This brought about attempts to steer Quincy away from his pursuits, which ironically resulted in Quincy interpreting this as betrayal with the aims of defending the primary body of Almega. A conflict in which the fragment revealed its original intentions arose, destabilizing the bond that had formed between it and Quincy, though with time and discussion this was eventually mended. Trust was eventually reestablished, and the fragment took on its past name of Zompha. A compromise was then reached between the two on how to proceed further on their journey.
Though Quincy was still dead set on his pursuit of Almega, Zompha's influence had changed his motivation from vengeance to pacification. With both a mutual goal and friendship between them, the bond between their souls strengthened, and eventually they came across Almega. After a failed attempt at diplomacy, an epic battle ensued between the two parties, with two ideologies from two halves of the same being clashing. Eventually, however, Quincy and Zompha had won the battle, and instead of enacting vengeance on Almega, they offered her redemption. After some convincing, Almega was absorbed by Zompha, and the goddess had finally returned to her full power. After about 600 years, the spirit of vengeance that had been spreading through the multiverse had been defeated at last, but a new threat arose.
The time for Zompha's redemption was to come rather soon after Almega's defeat, as the reckless travel between various universes by Almega, Zompha, and Quincy had resulted in the structural integrity of the multiverse being compromised. Rift travel had essentially punched holes into reality and left rather severe scars that would result in a large portion of the multiverse, if not all of it, collapsing in on itself. Though Zompha and Quincy would spend time attempting to restore stability by repairing the damage they had caused, their efforts were in vain as the damage would spread faster than they could repair it with their one-by-one method, even with their godly powers. As such, a more drastic and nearly suicidal method had to be taken, fully taking advantage of Zompha's position as an all-powerful goddess.
Considering the exponential rate at which the decay of the multiverse was spreading, a great deal of energy would be needed to restore stability all at once. There was no room for finesse or conserving strength. After using most of their precious remaining time to search for a method to carry out their plan, they had finally discovered a way to refine the technique of rift travel into specifically time travel for a brief period of time. In this period of travelling back in time, they would use Zompha's dominion over equilibrium on pivotal points in history to heal the branching realities that these points would split off into. Metaphorically speaking, they would be watering the roots, not the individual branches. Though they had manipulated time in a sense before to move between universes before, accessing it's raw power in such a way was far more dangerous and straining, but they had no other options left.
They carried out the plan as soon as they could, but the process was incomprehensibly difficult. The power and focus required to specifically utilize the time aspect of rift travel was already taxing, but trying to maintain their sense of self within the realm of infinite timelines and possibilities was maddening, especially as they were going back in their own history. Additionally, to avoid tearing even more holes in the fabric of reality, they had to lengthen the duration of the process and proceed as carefully as possible, phasing through instead of making a passage as is the case with rift travel. It felt as if their very existence was being spread thin across eons, the pain being stretched out for what felt like an eternity and a microsecond all at once, a far greater version of looking back on a year and feeling as if time had passed quickly even though there were intervals in which a minute felt like an hour or an hour felt like a minute. Had Quincy and Zompha not had each other present for stability, they would've inevitably been lost, but their support of each other allowed them to successfully carry through with the plan and survive.
The multiverse had been saved due to their efforts, but at a great cost to themselves. The strain placed on their minds, body, and souls resulted in them losing their godly powers for an indefinite amount of time, and they have not regained their full strength to this day. Not only this, but once access to the flow of time had been ended, the backlash from their actions placed them within stasis in a pocket dimension for over a century, during which they recovered from their exhaustion. After the stasis ended, but while they were still in the pocket dimension, they found that the body they shared had healed, and their minds returned to full capacity. The only loss was a result of trauma, with them forgetting how they performed time travel or the exact details of their experience with it. Their souls, however, went from bonded to essentially fused at this point, meaning that they had unwillingly become an inseparable pair. Though they still maintained some sense of individuality, they could feel at a spiritual level that they were now a singular entity.
Once the two had acclimated to their new state, they had decided to finally rest and recover from their long journey. Their stasis ended, and they moved to the nearest world that they could to ensure no damage would occur from moving to a new world. This was the world of Repraisa, a new start for them. Though they encountered issues in adjusting, especially with Quincy now as a Makara who had to serve many terrible Celesten masters before settling on a kind and truly noble priestess of the sun, they now live comfortably and act as defenders of their new home with Sai. They've even managed to help others such as the Amorza and Astika settle down as well after settling their cultural conflict, with Quincy becoming part Amorza himself and issues being resolved between Zompha and the Amorza queen Nizura, the sister who had betrayed Zompha.
