Nature
Doesn't like strangers, especially tourists. He hates littering.
Danny Avila - Poseidon
Nah. Oh, he technically has Thalassophobia, which is basically a fear of the ocean. I know, funny, a shark that's afraid of its home. Only the open ocean though. Shallow water and shorelines are okay. Why all this? It's a long story.
-kind of a sweetie
-mumbles
-doesn't smile a lot cuz he self-conscious about his scary teeth
-hangs out alone mostly
-the village strong-man
-gets asked to help the old folk with chores a lot
-likes being helpful
-has a 'warning' stage right before he loses his temper
-the locals are very aware of it
-he feels uncomfortable shape-shifting in front of people
Wants to understand himself. He's afraid that he'll hurt his human family and friends if he's not careful.
Hits too hard--even when he tries not to. Has a quick temper, almost always acts serious or unhappy in some way, overreacts if someone does something he sees as wrong, not very good at making friends, unintentionally impolite, doesn't really care about fitting in or following rules unless you can convince him that it's important.
He's very good at swimming, even in human form, and can hold his breath for a really long time. He's impervious to the cold, can smell and hear really well, is incredibly strong, and is oddly intelligent and sociable for a male Deorn. He's one of the very few Deorns that has learned to read and write.
Hanging out on the rockier, more isolated parts of the nearby coastline, swimming and fishing and exploring.
Socially awkward shark
Social
Not really big on possessions. He does have one thing he carries with him all the time: A pocket-sized, waterlogged, salt-stained old picture book. It's for little kids, it has pictures and then a few words to define the objects in the pictures, like a dictionary. He reads it a lot to stay in practice, and would get very embarrassed if anyone found out.
Doesn't use weapons. His teeth/claws/strength are all he needs.
He's especially fond of seals, but he doesn't eat them a lot because his adopted mother loves them and killing them makes him feel guilty.
He likes the flashing silver of a fish's scales in sunlit water.
He helps around with fishing and sailing and odd chores, not for money though.
"The tourist industry is stupid and needs to leave my village alone."
None
none, his adopted parents are Christian but he doesn't really understand it--or the concept of religion in general. He doesn't realize that the sense of purpose, fulfillment and peace he gets from the sea itself might be called spiritual.
English
Um, sharks, duh
History
Better than most Deorns. As stated, he can read and write (not well, but hey), do very basic math, read a map (kinda), tell time, and use a phone (although he doesn't own one).
His mom was a barracuda Deorna who went crazy and killed Tide's father and two sisters when Tide was only seven years old. He barely managed to escape with his life. Badly injured, he fled onto dry land in human form and collapsed on the beach. He was found by a middle-aged couple who took pity on him and brought him home, despite his less-than human appearance and the warnings of their friends that he was a sea monster. They lovingly raised him and taught him the ways of humans, and he almost forgot about his tragic childhood, although he's still half-afraid that his mother is out there yet, hunting for him. He does his best to make friends and help out, so he's generally accepted by the villagers at this point.
(P.S. later he meets an adventurous Hapbringer (winged human) named Mia. She rescues him from some scientists who wanted to study him, and they fall in love, get married, and move to an island together. They have two kids, a boy named Blister and a girl named Ripple. )
He doesn't know, but his adoptive parents give him gifts on May 9th, which is when they found him.
