Female Dax character is disabled. Paralyzed due to some spinal damage. Relies upon power armor\augmentation to Power her lower body. Were Harold to ride her, he would be able to ambulate her legs, using her thoughts. They could work together or constantly be at odds. Love/hate relationship develops over time?
Trigger? Something of necessity. Perhaps her power armor is destroyed in some dark moment incident and she is immobilized. Imprisoned together. Maybe Harold’s host even dies in the same
Incident. Or will die in a few hours. Dark times call for dramatic solution. Feels like a book 3 type of payoff.
History
Bambi was a Captain in the Galactic Navy (or equivalent), was XO of a Navy fleet. She had her own ship but served under Rear Admiral Antagonist. During a battle with some enemy, she feels she made a tactical error, which led to her ship getting hit by an enemy torpedo (because they had to choose to intercept the torpedo to protect the fleet command ship). This caused her injury/disability. She lost most of her crew, including perhaps her lover? (Maybe it was her illicit affair that distracted her and led them into this situation, which is why she now is determined to remain loveless... she does not want to repeat that mistake!) This skirmish was pointless/meaningless, too, not for saving the galaxy, but for some stupid political motivation or something, she feels lives are being wasted for no good reason, etc. After this she leaves the force and is drifing, meets Redbeard who recruits her for pirate missions and she finds out she's pretty good at it! They become partners in crime... (she could be drawn to the pirate life by its idealism and Robin Hood type attitude, doing actual good, she feels like).
