He doesn't like people and prefers to do things by himself. And he's pretty bad at socializing anyways, and not a talker. He likes quiet activities such as reading or puzzles, and to do so in a quiet place with the only sound being something like a fire in the fireplace, rain falling outside, or the birds outside. He doesn't easily get along with people, and even those he does he can still be stubborn and stand-offish with.

His parents died when he was about 4 and he barely remembers them. He then grew up in orphanage for middle-class children, but all the kids and adults were wary of him because of his power, which is he drains the life force of whoever he touches skin to skin. For the most part he would stay in his room, because whenever he left his room, all the kids would run from him and the adults would give him judging looks and keep their distance. He would need to leave his room for food and other necessecities though, so he couldn't just hide in his room all the time. When Aurel was about 7, he was adopted by Kasmir who took pity on little Aurel being in such a situation. Of course the orphanage was happy to let someone adopt him to get Aurel out of their way. So Aurel started to live with Kasmir, and it was just the two of them, with visits every now and then of Kasmir's business partner Cain (who Aurel really doesn't like). When Aurel is about 8, he accidentally doesn't get off the subway train at their stop with Kasmir and is then seperated from him, surrounded people, and at a lost of what to do. This is when he meets John, also about 8, who helps him get back to Kasmir. After that, Kasmir keeps returning to the orphanage that John lived at, and would help them, letting Aurel visit John, since Aurel's power was not working on John (later find out John's power is to negate the powers of others). Aurel seemed to actually really like John, and so Kasmir soon also adopted John to come live with them. Aurel and John then grew up together with Kasmir.
