Richard was raised by his single mother. He had exemplary grades. By the time he was a sophomore in high school he knew he wanted to be a physician. He started working hard to reach his goal. A few months after Richard graduated, his mother had been killed in a bank robbery turned hostage situation. Richard found himself in an emotionally catatonic state, focusing completely on his education, living off scholarship money, barely taking care of himself. Lisa, a friend from his high school. They ran into each other in a market. After a few months of nearly forcing Richard to open up to her, they concieved Paul and Crystal. Richard only learns of the kids a year and a half later. The two essentially dropped on his doorstep. Richard, unable to find Lisa and hellbent on not giving the kids the same father he was given, refused to give the kids up. Three years later, he dropped out of college.
