He favors the Gaelachan side of the wars but is against everything his father stands for, he believes his older sister should be heir and not him. He is a feminist and believes in the traditional matriarchal system of the Gaelachans, not the male oriented system his father the Dark Emperor wants.

Politics.

His father ate his mother when he was little, causing emotional scarring and him to try and take refuge elsewhere. He went to his older sister but she hated him so he went to Beatrice, an expecting mother and his father's adviser and she treated him like her son until her murder by the Grianite spies, he then holed up alone for many years of his life until Oilell met him at a peace session between the royal families. She developed a crush, Bryce didn't know the feeling of someone being nice to him in a non-motherly way and thought he fell in love at the confusing age of 12. They had a relationship in secret for a year before Bryce realized that with politics and racism they couldn't be together and not knowing what to do he freaked out and publicly dumped her at her birthday party, ruining their relationship forever. He has no bigger regret. He continues to screw things up with every girl he meets from that point on until at 17 when he is supposed to take the throne and meets Oilell again and awkwardly falls in love all over again. Unfortunately she now hates him.
