Solstreif grew up in a large farming family in Southern Felsheim, the youngest of 5 children. Her small town housed many farmers, a blacksmith, and a few hunting families. Due to her birth defect, she was unsuited to heaving loads around the farm, but due to her friendly nature and good memory, she was often hired by neighbors or family members to carry messages to other people. As she got older, she became the town messenger and was on the road for days at a time. She often visited other towns and entertained the people back home with tales of things she saw on the road and in the towns. For a while she was content with this, but it was lonely work that took a toll on her. She was, however, reluctant to give it up, because the feeling of freedom it gave her was exhilarating. Some time later, she heard of a mercenary company that was recruiting, and she immediately went home and started packing.
