Sarah isn't a mild-mannered woman, but she hates very few people. Her son rules the Institute, and though she dislikes them, she can not hate them. She doesn't hate synths, her reasoning being "they didn't ask to be born." She dislikes the Brotherhood because of their track record and their "kill all non-human" policy. She likes the Railroad well enough but finds that the Minutemen, with their "help all who need it" policy, most closely matches her views.

Sarah has lost everything. Her home, her family, her world, all gone in mere minutes. Near the beginning of the text, as Sarah is the sole survivor, she'll want to search for her son. However, her overlying motivation is to free the people of the Commonwealth from the rule of the Institute and the grip of the Brotherhood.
