Caleb hates people who betray his trust

Breathes through his nose when he's pissed.
Snorts when he laughs. Scratches the back of his head when he sees someone he's attracted to. cracks his knuckles when he's bored. Makes a small energy shield when he's scared, it makes light and it protects him.

He feels motivated to look after the people he loves because he never really had that in his own home life with his family, but with his sister and friends, he believes he can find family in his friends.

Easily angered, bit of a control freak. Far too empathetic to the people close to him. But when people betray him he takes it personally and finds that hard to forgive.

He can do a backflip! He can do a mean card trick where he just shakes the deck and bam a new card appears. He learnt how to fight roughly like a boxer just by watching pro boxing.

Caleb cares too much, ever since he was little he's had to look after his little sister Joan from their abusive father and a world that hates them. He's very protective of his sister and friends and gets pissed off at anyone who threatens them. He's been hurt his whole life he doesn't want to be hurt again.

Caleb is a Neo-Human. That means he's born with powers. They can activate whenever. For him he grew up in a world that hates Neo-Humans. Because after the age of Heroes the world was broken a bit. His father abused him and his sister. He always protected her from him.

Caleb and Joan grew up with neglect and verbal abuse from their father Jacob Sawyer. He works a dead-end job and takes drugs. It wasn't until the twins were 16 he hit them. He's always insulting them, intimidating them and demeaning them.

Jacob dislikes the twins because his wife left him after she was done with him. He was depressed and wouldn't do anything to fix his life and he was dragging her with him so she left. She never made it clear why she left her kids with him. To Jacob, the twins seemed like a burden and an insult.

The first time he hit Caleb was when his powers showed up. Caleb knew he couldn't live in his home anymore. His plan was to take his girlfriend and Joan to Haven. He takes his dads car keys and is nearly finished packing. After a long fight Caleb shows his power and threatens Jacob. Jacob beats him but Caleb and Joan manage to fight back, steal his car burn down a small part of the house and run away to Haven. (All of this was a year before the stories start)

(This next bit doesn't happen in the story)
Years later Caleb returns when he is 25 when he hears his father has turned his life around. He is jealous of his half brother JJ (Jacob Junior) because he gets the life that Caleb always wanted from his father. Joan finds it harder to forgive her father but the twins decide to at least leave on good terms with their father and act like the big siblings they are to JJ.

High school He should be in his final year but the plot and stuff got in the way of that.

Caleb Sawyer and his twin sister Joan Sawyer are both Neo-Humans who were raised mostly by their father James Sawyer. James was a dead beat who sometimes made a habit of hitting Caleb only in his worst of days. When Caleb was 15 once he got into a fight after school and punched the other kid so hard he knocked him out. He realised he had a red glowing barrier around his hand. Caleb's Neo-human powers had developed and he decided to keep them secret. 4 months later at 16, Joan's powers develop very publicly and she burns down a home unintentionally. Caleb takes this as their chance to leave their dad and try to make their own lives better. The twins run.

They find a new carer in the form of Sal Moretti, an old boxer from New York who took the twins into his gym. Sal saw two other homeless Neo-Humans and they each in different ways reminded him of him when he was young with powers he didn't want or need. He decides to play some part in raising them through the hardest part of their lives. Eventually, Caleb, the twins pop up on police radar and they are arrested for the whole accidental house burning thing. They are sentenced to Stoneward Cove (a super-prison) for 5 years each.

Caleb has the ability to generate red energy shields from his forearms and hands. He can make any number of different shields for different purposes. He can create smaller shields around his hands to mimic boxing gloves. Or he can create more of a riot shield to provide cover while he's on the move. If he has to he will create a large bubble to protect more than one person from a large attack. The shields are mostly unbreakable but if Caleb gets tired, loses focus or the shield takes too many powerful hits it will break. Caleb can take bullets all day but things like bombs can disrupt him.

Later on, Caleb finds out he can generate energy blades from his fists. The blades can burn through everything or at least do some damage. He has two types of blades. The first is the standard long blade that reaches from his hands to the ground. The second is a vertical push blade. These are the same length as his fists.

The energy is bright red and flows like a plasma ball from either his wrists or fists to whatever shield he's making. The blades are thin and bright.
