Lorreth was born in a military compound of the Sharp Stone Clan, one of the many warring factions within the human capital of Caldin's Caldera. Her parents died in battle when she was a young child. Aju, a "friend" of her mother's and leader of the clan, adopted her as her own. As an adult, Lorreth was appointed fourth commander, a position that most assume was granted to her largely because of nepotism (they are correct).

Lorreth had a romantic fling with Gregory Frayn, another soldier in the clan, which ended in Lorreth (with some convincing from her mother) giving up custody of her two-year-old son to Gregory to raise, and the two split ways.

After a disastrous incident killed Aju and the second and third commanders, Lorreth was suddenly the leader of the Sharp Stone Clan, but only for a short time before it was destroyed and she was forced to flee. She sought safety at the Riverside, and worked for a Unicorn named Lacertae for a time, before being reunited with her son and Gregory after believing they were dead.
