He doesn't remember anything before being an orphan, but early on he determined that he would use everything he had in order to escape from the life he had in order to gain all the material benefits he could want. He quickly showed his aptitude for school and immediately was pushed to apply for scholarships in order to transfer to a private school, which he did. He excelled at everything, but was especially fascinated by the human body, which he decided was where he wanted his work to lie. This was given even more importance when he discovered he could heal himself and others at will with a touch. In his third year of college he saved his sister, Aki's life from a fey, forcing him into the ranks of the Marked. Even though the Marked insist he get to a safehouse, he refused to go anywhere until he finished his last year of college. He did go to the camp where Aki had been sent just a month before it was attacked by a band of fey. Most survived and the fey were driven off, but Aki was killed by a fey arrow. Silas blamed himself forever for this, sure that his late coming had given the fey a trail to his sister. When the call was sent for volunteers for Rune’s new camp, he readily agreed, not wanting to spend another day where he was. He was made a trainer and later began to mentor Daniella.

She was the only person he was ever really emotional about. He risked his life for her more than once, but carries the guilt from her death.

Daniella
In a way he likes Daniella. Not exactly as a person, but as an interesting toy that he is happy to take apart and put back together.

Rune
He is glad for Rune. He knows exactly what she wants and is happy to give it to her in payment of his new home away from the camp where his sister died. Though he will do as he wants, he is more loyal to Rune then he ever was to anyone else.
