Iam is an enthusiastic and slightly vulnerable king, a mere 14 years old when his mother, Queen Juniper, was assassinated. He is relatively inexperienced and very young by Fae standards. Iam is initially weak-willed but comes into his own over the course of the story. He has a large heart and genuinely wants to change things, but is very naive when it comes to the lives of humans and the non-royal Fae. When his friend and caretaker Clove is executed, he has a harsh awakening to the realities of the world, especially when he narrowly avoids an assassination attempt soon after, and it sends him into a brief but notable bit of cynicism.

Tends to gesture heavily with his hands, though he tries to do so less once becoming king, cocks his head to the left when deep in thought.

Doesn't stand up for himself, lets the other royals walk all over him, too trusting, self-sacrificing even when he shouldn't be, hopelessly naive when it comes to humans and the poor, a bit air-headed at times. Optimistic to a fault.

Against humans, believing them to be inferior to Fae and in need of constant protection. Grows out of this after getting to know Vivian Carinter.

King of the Spring Court. In general, he listens to the advice of his Upper Court and what they want, holding few political views of his own and mostly parroting his late mother's talking points. Strongly against war with the humans, even before learning of his true parentage.

The second youngest child of King Phillip and Queen Julia Norwood, Iam was kidnapped from his mother by Queen Juniper of the Spring Court during the faery raids when he was six. She removed his memory of prior life and raised him as her son, making him believe he was Fae.
