Cedar is slightly immature for his age, and he tends to deflect serious topics with jokes. He also tends to ignore the bad and focus on the good. He's loyal, often not letting up even when his help isn't needed or wanted. He loves his friends and tries his best to prioritize others, mainly because his own perceived negligence led to the murder of his sister Holly. He's determined to a fault, which tends to lead to exhaustion or injury on his part, and annoyance on his friends. He stops being so overprotective and begins to take care of himself more after taking a knife to the stomach.

Cedar grew up on the outskirts of the Autumn Court, the son of a woodcutter and a woodcarver. He and his twin sister Holly took up the family business in their youth, becoming skilled at their trade and often travelling to the more town-centered areas of the Autumn Court to sell their wares. He and Holly would occasionally sneak into the human world to sell items. When Cedar was around 180 (around our 18), he decided to stay back when Holly went to a human market. She didn't return, and Cedar and his father went out to search for her, finding her body in the Woods. Cedar never recovered from her death, which he viewed as his fault. He moved away from his parents soon after, and lived alone until meeting Esther Greybriar, who was escaping from the Court of Darkness. The two lived together, and eventually rescued Maia Greybriar from Oleander.
