He's had a bansidhe attached to him since he was a child. Due to his early introduction, he can see other ghosts quite easily as well. Having the banshee latched on to him has lowered his metaphorical immune system, so he tends to attract those other spirits. She fights them off.

He was dropped off at a church in Welland, Ontario, CA without so much as a note to leave him with a semblance of who he could have been. The pastor of the church took him in, but he ended up being a community child. He belonged to the church goers, and they all prayed for him when his "episodes" started.
Once he graduated, he dropped off their radar. A few years into this meaningless life he'd made, he met Val, and she was perfectly aware of the sidhe that haunted him. She told him she was the only one that could help him, and he joined her band.
He's missed several rehearsals and shows, and she hasn't been able to help him yet.
Notes
He doesn't like dogs because they always bark at him and get hostile because of his affliction, but he has a soft spot for Val's dog, Maverick. Maverick has never barked at him, and he always cuddles up to him when he comes over.
Originally, he went by Welland Ontario because of how creative the father was, but the sidhe encouraged him to take the surname O'Malley.
