Nature
Roe Lin is extremely proficient in Aikido, Kendo, and has some understanding of Kung Fu. All are meant for defensive purposes. Using these, Roe Lin can prepare a counter-attack to punish almost any conventional physical attack that he's aware of - be it with his hands, or a sword.
Using his martial prowess, he can get a leg-up on ghouls of slightly higher letter-grades than himself. This is achieved by letting them hit first, and punishing them for even the smallest slip-up in combat.
He is mediocre at best with handguns.
Roe also knows how to dance, probably better than he should.
Roe is very empathetic, for better or worse; this can cause him to get upset when people suffer undeservedly, sometimes to a point where he can't make himself look away - though he usually does that.
He has problems conveying certain emotions, so he often appears unafraid of massive and obvious threats, despite how he actually feels. Roe has learned to use this loose screw to his advantage, intimidating higher-ranked but not-so-smart Ghouls and avoiding violence.
Sabotaging "bad people", bringing self-discipline into the world, and filling up his personal blog project.
Roe Lin has a tendency to second-guess situations. He is also blinded to Frank's true intentions by his frustration with being ghoulified; as he would have rather died naturally of his wounds.
Roe Lin believes cannibalistic ghouls are inherently twisted and deceitful people, and will only pretend to trust them most of the time. He believes people who force other lifestyles onto others are about as bad as the former.
Hybrid of Sensei, Saboteur, and Problem Solver.
Social
Most lighter shades of blue are appealing to him.
Birds are pretty fascinating, but leave a bad taste in his mouth due to "Doves" being a thing. He finds parakeets adorable despite this roadblock.
Anything that isn't his kagune; namely his body.
Roe Lin is not a very material person.
Once upon a time it was beef udon, but his circumstances make it hard to enjoy that. He's been growing to like spiced man-jerky.
A multi-faceted personal blog, collecting the culture of Tokyo's ghouls and how they get by. Also, evading unseen pursuers.
It is fundamentally wrong to turn humans into ghouls, even if it saves their lives.
Ex-Protestant. Doesn't really think about religion anymore.
Used to be a CCG investigator and scientist. Jobless today.
History
July 18th, 19XX
Roe Lin spent most of his life learning, with the original goal of becoming a high-tier Ghoul Investigator. Sometimes his course would shift, and he eventually found himself in the medical field. There he took Ghouls apart to figure out how they ticked, why they ticked, and where they hurt most. He was a very diverse person in his practices, having learned a lot of defensive martial arts so that he could capture Ghouls non-lethally, and deliver fresher specimens to his bosses. His interest in old-fashioned swordplay over modern gunplay made him a the subject of a lot of weird looks, as he even used to dress in outdated manners outside of work.
Eventually, however, there was a terrible field accident. He took a koukaku strike in the gut for another investigator. The pain and internal damage caused him to black out, and he woke up a full day later... on the same table his boss usually took bad-boy ghouls apart on. He felt strange. When he was discharged later, he had been informed of his new physiological status... an artificial half-ghoul, and a failed one at that - a "Floppy". The organs of the ghoul who nearly killed him were used to transform him.
In a spree of rage, he trashed the workplace and took off, leaving his quinque behind when he made an escape from the Kyoto CCG HQ. Months of skulking around later, he was in Tokyo, and had made a vow to fight off his Ghoulish instincts to the best of his ability so he could at least try to be like a human.
Completed high school at 18.
Graduated from Kyoto University with medical degrees and one degree in Criminology at 22.
Learned Aikido and Kendo on and off during any sort of free time.
CCG's full education complete by 23, followed by a slow climb up into the science branch over a few years.
By 29, he had "mastered" both the earlier forms of martial arts and begun applying them when he needed to cover for a field investigator.
By 32, he was assisting Frank's division in ghoul-related medical research, and had stopped covering for field-men.
Family
None, but he really wants a parakeet someday.
Notes
Roe possess a Koukaku-type Kagune, and is considered a B-rank at the time of writing. The Koukaku wraps around his right arm and forms a set of long, thick and clawed digits.
He received an A-rank Rinkaku-type Quinque in the form of a rapier from a mysterious child carrying... a lot of weapons. It has become his main tool since it was gifted to him. He wants to make good on using it, as his own way of thanking the stranger.
