Human
Fairly tall, underweight from her illness. All of her former muscle mass has deteriorated, but she still has a regal air to her.
Medium brown with cool undertones--especially due to pallor.

Long, straight, usually in a crown braid
None
She has a coughing sickness (similar to our tuberculosis) that makes her appear tired, her facial features unnaturally sharp, and frequently has coughing fits, including coughing up blood and phlegm.
Adalia is still as striking as she was in her youth, though now for different reasons. She's tall and narrowly build with a rectangular body shape. She was never particularly curvy, but now she's visibly bony, with sunken cheeks and dark circles under her eyes. Her hair is thick and falls down her back, and is often tied up and out of the way. Dark, thick eyebrows and short eyelashes. Long nose that she often looks at others from. Over the years she has gone from effortlessly elegant to worryingly visibly ill, but she refuses to acknowledge her failing health to the public--why say what they can all already see and worry them?
Adalia's voice is frequently hoarse or thick due to her coughing fits. To alleviate them, she tries to speak quietly, and has mastered the art of absolutely eviscerating someone without raising it.
Adalia's color is red and she knows it. All of her best gowns are red or back with either gold or silver embroidery, and she rotates between them. A formal appearance is a must for her so that she can maintain the appearance of royalty even if she technically isn't.
Nature
Adalia is fiercely loyal to those she loves, and will stop at nothing to defend them. She was deeply affected by her husband's assassination, daughter's abduction, and the loss of her throne, and funnels her feelings into bitterness at the corrupt current queen. She does her best to avoid being a puppet queen, despite her illness and her lack of political power. As much as she tries to hide it, she still holds out hope that her daughter is still alive. Although she often puts up a disaffected and apathetic front, she's still a bit of an optimist.
Adalia took years of etiquette classes before marrying into the royal family and they still show all these years later in her mannerisms, although to nowhere near the same extent. A slight sway to her when she stands.

Former queen of Ehre, now a lady in waiting
Against Rosaline Sole. To elaborate, Adalia has always had lukewarm feelings on the monarchy and wanted to enact many reforms until she fell ill right after the birth of her daughter. A big part of her loathing for Rosaline stems from the fact that Rosaline used faux-populism to rally support by promising reform and then proceeded to do none of them after seizing power.

- Married Joshua Speranza for political gain as opposed to love, although she grew to love him as they aged.
- She initially had her heart set on becoming a knight after the king began courting her and she saw the opportunity to become the queen on the horizon.
- Amalia is her only child; she had wanted at least one more but was unable to after falling ill.
- She embroidered for years, but recently had to stop after her illness started to return; it made her hands less steady.
- Very talented chess player. In fact, winning a game spectacularly is what caught Joshua's attention.
- Although she has been weakened by her illness, Adalia is still a formidable foe. She keeps a rapier with her at nearly all times, and knows how to use it.
- Her grandparents both grew up as poor farmers in southwest Ehre before moving to Onore, the capital city. She wishes to fight for the poor as well, which is part of why the opportunistic and misleading Rosaline Sole enrages her.
- Despite living on an island kingdom, Adalia doesn't like swimming or even boating.
- She prefers the cold or a dry heat to northern Ehre's humid summers.
History
Adalia wanted to be a royal guard before being courted by King Joshua. She surrendered that dream to wed him, instead focusing on training a stronger guard force to the castle with the rise of rebellion. When she was in her early twenties she gave birth to a daughter named Amalia Ruth, and only a year later she was struck with a coughing sickness that attacked Ehre. She was near-death but managed to survive due to the king pouring money into researching for a cure for the nationwide epidemic. Money that was promised to be used to help the poor conditions on the seas, which angered a group of pirate anarchists known as DONT, who raided the castle, killed the king, and kidnapped the young princess. DONT implemented one of their own to rule, regulating Adalia to a puppet queen as she searched to find her daughter before her illness returns.
