Elvira is born to an American father and French mother. The familytree intertwines with great pureblood family's like the Rosier's, Travers and far back even the infamous Black family.

When she was growing up she had a good relationship with her cousin Alder, the only nonmagical person in the family, so a shame and secret of the family. Later this changes, because her father influenced her opinion about non-magical people and later also learns about how important being pureblooded is.

The Family's motto is: Blood First. But this is actually not reflected in anyone's actions.

Her aunt cheated on a half-breed wizard, which resulted in a bastard, her father murdered his brother-in-law for hurting his cheating sister and Alder was bewitched by his own father so that the secret of his nonmagical would never be spread. All the children left the house very early too persue careers and start new families.

She grew up with all the tools and money she needed to become a great witch
She inherited her mothers talent for charms and spells and the Ilvermorny school also helped develop this enormously. Elvira was Always interested in the dark arts. This was also encouraged by her family.

When Elvira graduated she went to England to study the Dark Arts on her own, she left her family and Alder behind to pursue her ambitions. Also starting a small trade of magical objects.

In the UK, Elvira marries ministery worker and death eater Thomas, and soon becomes pregnant.
When he is arrested for his crimes, she has her infant daughter adopted. Another example of the fact that they do not pursue the familymotto.

She does'nt want to have proof of her relationship with Thomas, even though she loves him very much, afraid that in the future his infamous reputation will come back to haunt her. She tries to flee from her past, her husbands dark ambitions and her husband's recent death in Azkaban (prison). But then Voldermorts most loyal follower Barty Crouch jr. (former friend of Thomas) knocks on her door and demands her helping him in a task, and threatens the life of her enstranged daughter if she's not willing. That's where the story starts.
