Rei is always perfectly put together and neat, with exemplary posture and graceful movements. Her speech is very formal with a wide vocabulary but no slang or swearing. She likes to pause and collect her thoughts before she speaks. When she's nervous she tends to clasp her hands together. Due to Ki's antics, she is very difficult to startle or surprise.

 Rei comes from a wealthy and high ranking mage family. Her mother was the top of her class in an eastern guild. She moved to the domain of the guild La Fey to court and eventually marry her father after he impressed her by winning against her in a magic tournament. Rei is the third child, the first-born being her brother Taro and the second being her sister Shiori. Both are much older than her (27 and 25, respectively), so she never grew close to them. Both are very successful mages in their fields. Her family is overall considered very powerful and has many connections throughout the magic world.

 Rei's childhood consisted of private tutoring and high expectations. She was always fawned over at her parent's business parties, and quickly learned how to understand what people wanted and how to deal with them, pleasing her parents. With so much studying and responsibility, Rei had acquaintances of her age but no friends. Her parents assured her it was for the best and that it gave her more time to learn without distractions.

 She found her familiar at the very young age of eleven. Her parents had taken away her toys saying she was too old for silly things. She went outside in the gardens and a sudden storm caught her by surprise at a fair distance from shelter. This was all too much for the little girl and she started crying. The crying attracted a curious water fairy, who was concerned that the human child was "leaking". They stuck together and later bonded. Ki introduced Rei to the fun game of "rule-breaking" as well as her hobby of collecting treasures (useless clutter, according to her parents).

After several years, made more tolerable with a friend, Rei convinced her parents to let her join Greenchild instead of La Fey which was the guild of her parents and siblings. Her parents are convinced this is just a rebellious phase that will end shortly and Rei will return to join La Fey. She and Ki both have high expectations to live up to.
