Has a jagged scar down his left cheek. He had captured a prominent faery and was questioning them; he didn't realize that they had a knife until they tried to gouge out his eye. They missed, but his face is still scarred from it.

Gabriel has strong principles; the issue is that they aren't always the same as everyone else's. He seeks constant validation from his father, who overlooks him in favor of Cordelia Norwood, and from his troops, who see him as a competent leader who's a bit of a showoff. Often angry and bitter, Gabriel resents his family, especially his younger siblings who he views as being more appreciated. Although he is a gifted strategist, he often jumps straight to violence as a punishment for wrongdoing. Although he does have genuine hatred for his father (especially for forcing him into training so young to mold him into the warrior prince he wanted), he is desperate for his approval, as already mentioned, and loathes that his father named Cordelia his heir as opposed to him. He sees the faery lands as the ultimate conquest, and the one that will finally get him the recognition he craves.

Gabriel was practically raised on the battlefields, following his father on campaigns from his early childhood onwards and being molded into the model warrior prince. He barely knows most of his siblings, and resents their comparatively cushy palace life. Appointed the general of the royal army at twenty-one due to both nepotism and genuine skill, although his father passed over Gabriel in favor of Cordelia when naming his eventual successor.

Not nearly as in-depth as his siblings, while he is intelligent, he picked most of his knowledge up on the go.
