For him, an ideal world would not exist without sorrow. To him, sadness is an essential part of life. Without it, everything would be dull and lifeless. But that type of mentality may backfire.

There wasn't anything noteworthy about his middle school or high school years, the most one can say about it was he was avoided due to his father's crime, homosexuality, and general withdrawn nature

The same could be said for high school, the days just seem to blend until...

(Fateful Encounter)

He met him the summer vacation before his senior year, he got in a debacle with police over trespassing when he was just taking a shortcut home when a man named Kosuke stood up to defend him

After that, the man instantly clicked with him, he was gentle, cool and had a nice body

The man met with him again in the park on another day and befriend each other, the man was slightly older than him and lived in another district of the city.

Each day they met they grew closer and closer, realizing they had more in common than they thought, they both like things like puzzles, technology, writing, and psychology, they both had shitty parents and in about a month of friendship they hit it off.

Kosuke showered him with gifts even when he didn't want it, sure he was a bit clingy and jealous but it was better than every moment together was euphoria and this was the first time he ever been so happy in years that was until Hikari found out

After hearing the news that his nephew was seeing an older man, his uncle begged him from seeing him again and set an early curfew on him. Devasted and enraged, Kage, scrambled to find a way to reach his beloved when Kosuke found out he gave him a secret phone so they can keep in touch. Deep down, he knew what he was doing was bratty and selfish but this man was the only one who made him feel cherished in years.

So whenever they can, they chatted and exchanged sweet nothings to each other but soon they were still unsatisfied with just texting and talking. They wanted to see and hold each other

When the school year rolled around Kage took full advantage of the studying time to see Kosuke again, it went to the point he was more than at his lover's house than at his own

(Nightmare)

One day, Kosuke said he got a contract to make a machine that will bring the reawake and preserve memories. Kage didn't think this work or sell, if anything he thought it was invasive and would be at the center of controversy but he'll do it to make Kosuke happy

It was able to probe in some of Kage's memories like a couple of segments of his childhood, including the fire he was in until he backed out

He told Kosuke he didn't feel comfortable with him seeing such intimate memories with him, Kosuke said he thought Kage thought he was Kage's everything.

Kage protested but to no avail, it was until Kosuke threaten to leave him did he comply

He allowed Kosuke to see about everything in his past, his triumphs, his hardships, his hopes, and dreams until it broke down causing Kage to faint

When he woke up in Kosuke arms, he felt so violated, he let Kosuke see everything there is to see of him, all because Kosuke was going to dump him. He felt pathetic for so easily succumbing because his own desire, Kosuke came in and comfort him as he cried and said that he won't share those memories with anyone and said they had a deep bond because of it

Kage put on a brave face and embraces Kosuke though at home told a different story. He broke down wondering if he made a mistake. If Kosuke saw something he shouldn't If he was just overreacting.

He didn't know and just fell asleep

After that day, Kosuke tried his best to reconcile with Kage and continued their relationship as usual.

Though there was a distance between them, Kage saw it as him being too sensitive. His home life was a bit lonely his uncle had to work late and his sister was usually dedicated to her schoolwork and seem to not notice his presence at all. So Kosuke was the antidote to that, but Kosuke himself became distant to him and seem to drift to other people

Kage feared this more than anything and he asked Kosuke if he did something wrong. Kosuke simply said, "You didn't commit to me." Kage was baffled and ashamed and asked what to do he said to help him with his plan, Kage reluctantly obliged

During that time it still kept breaking down and just end up giving Kage harsh migraines and pain, everytime after that Kosuke comforted him.

It wasn't long before Kosuke abandoned the machine and Kage hoped this will bring everything back to normal and for a short period it did.

Kosuke apologized, admitted his faults, and treated Kage like a prince, even allowing him to spend the night with him but soon the relationship grew stale. He felt that Kosuke only wanted him for his body as Kosuke grew more and more possessive of Kage.

Demanding that he spent most of his time with him, the relationship got worse and worse. Kosuke started to treat him more like a bratty child than a lover, usually making decisions for him, controlling his every move, took any opportunity to isolate him, kissing him without his consent, and even became violent to him at points (eg. grabbing him roughly when angry, threatening to hit and slapping him).

This affected his school and home life as well, resulting in him become more morose and irritable than usually leading to him snapping at people

His relationship with Kosuke was also a topic of gossip as well, Soon the rumor that he was engaging in enjo kosai with an older man, giving students the extra push to bully and mistreat him

Soon this became a vicious cycle he alienated his from his family, ran to Kosuke who mistreated him leaving his depressive and anxious and him taking out on people, further isolating himself

He fell in a spiral of self-hatred, He caused all of this, He's a burden to his family and boyfriend

He asked Kosuke to break up with him but Kosuke refuses to let him go and proceeds to isolate him more

(A Night Under The Stars)

One night he walked to the bridge with the intention of jumping but he met another boy and decide to wait until he left to do the act, the boy asked him if he wanted to watch the stars with him while stargazing Kage told the boy all his problems that he got tired of bottling up, The boy reassured him that if he hopes enough thing will get better which pissed off Kage even more, Hoping that things will get better got him in this mess in the first place

Before he knew it he saw the boy get hit up aside the head by an angry Kosuke who dragged him back home, He accused Kage of running off to another man and start attacking him before trying to ravish him, that's when Kage's instincts kicked in and he fought back and ran for dear life

(Escape and Loss)
After running for a few blocks, he could tell Kosuke was still after him, He bumped into a girl, seeing him in this state she asks what happened to him, he didn't bother to answer and just asks her to get him out of here, she obliged.

He was happy that he was free and safe but still, he felt like a part of him was lost, He didn't tell anyone what actually happened and throughout the summer he fell in a daze-like state

They got a scholarship to go to some boarding school, He didn't care much, while Hikari stayed her summer at the boarding school, he stayed at home with his uncle to make up for how he treated him
