Soleil was born to High Prince Elmon Gamaliel and Princess Ailas Gamaliel. He has two older brothers, Feno and Sundarmar, a younger sister, Warren, and a younger brother, Qildor. Soleil's father was much more preoccupied with status and legacy than he was with maintaining a loving family, and as a result, he treated each of his children more like pawns to gain more prestige than as beloved family members. His expectations for his children were usually unrealistic, and when not met he would become emotionally abusive toward them.

As a result of this, Soleil has had a strong resentment towards his father for a long time. His father's obsession with prestige robbed him and his siblings of their childhoods, instead leaving them with deep-rooted feelings of inadequacy and unhealthy perfectionism. Soleil dealt with these feelings through spite. Instead of attempting to gain prestige, he spent much of his time drinking and partying, ignoring his father's expectations of him. He would purposefully act out to embarrass his father, remaining a thorn in his side for years.

Unfortunately, this caused his father to hate Soleil, and as all his siblings grew to be successful and therefore contributed to the pride of the family, Soleil became the primary target for his father's abuse. While this abuse was usually only emotional, his father would occasionally hit him when he was exceptionally displeased with him (Although this never went further than a slap across the face). Soleil's failures in contrast with his siblings' successes alienated him further from his family, and his feelings of inadequacy and anger grew further and further. His siblings also started to bully him as a result of their father singling him out, furthering his feelings of resentment. This only caused Soleil to act out of spite even more, up until he was disowned for insulting another Noble family during a diplomatic meeting and humiliating his father.

After a spiteful plan to rob his family blind went awry, Soleil's father renounced his title as a Gamaliel altogether, taking away his signet ring. During all of this, Soleil learned that his sister was getting married to Chad Harddick, a horrible man who was infamous for his skills as an adventurer as well as his cruelty and promiscuity. This marriage is deeply troubling to Soleil, as he knows that it's likely going to cause his sister nothing but pain and grief. This further fueled his anger towards his father, as him not only allowing this marriage to a man who would certainly treat Warren terribly - but even being excited about it - is proof that he sees his children as nothing but pawns to gain more prestige and doesn't care about any of their wellbeings.

He is a bad listener, especially when angry or nervous. An example of this is repeating the same incorrect information in an argument, even after repeatedly being corrected.

He is very concerned with his appearance, always making an effort to look well-groomed and well-dressed. He would be incredibly embarrassed if he were to have a wardrobe malfunction or look disheveled in public, but this is also something to look out for; during times of extreme emotional distress, one of the first signs is that he stops caring about his appearance.

He doesn't talk about his emotions outside of shit-talk and becomes offended if pressed to open up to others. The only way he would really open up to someone else about his emotions was if he was pressed about it while he was belligerently drunk.

Before being thrown out by his father, he had little motivation for anything as a result of his spiteful feelings toward his father. If his father wanted him to reach success in order to fuel his ego, he would simply decide not to bother with it.

After being thrown out, his anger towards his family in response to this rejection became a motivator for him to act more aggressively spiteful towards his family, but overall still didn't feel motivated to actually make something of himself.

After having his title as a Gamaliel denounced altogether, he now feels motivated to prove that he doesn't need his family's legacy to become successful, and he will do so without becoming a tool to fuel his father's ego. No longer being a Gamaliel, while extremely upsetting to him, was also almost freeing for him as now he feels like he had the autonomy to do as he pleases without either angering or pleasing his father. He can find success in his own way.

While he makes a lot of selfish mistakes and seems to have a lack of concern for anyone but himself, he does genuinely care for his friends and family. Soleil is very loyal to those who he considers friends, and despite his difficulties with taking accountability for his wrongdoings, will shift blame onto himself if it means keeping his friends away from danger.

He doesn't take shit from others, nor does he allow that of anyone else. He stands up for himself and his friends with confidence.

When he needs to be, he can be very charismatic in his interactions with others. He comes across as being confident and unafraid to speak his mind.

Soleil struggles with constant feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. He masks this with an inflated ego, and therefore has a habit of being condescending, uppity, and easily offended. He perceives even some of the most innocent comments as personal insults, and will immediately jump to the defense without much critical thought.

Generally speaking, he is not very self-aware and when held accountable for a wrongdoing, shifts the blame instead onto the accuser. Accusing him of a wrongdoing might be then considered as a wrongdoing against him. What makes this worse is his tendency to hold grudges against people who have wronged him, or who he perceives to have wronged him.

He tends to become fixated on the idea of revenge against people who he perceives as having wronged him, but is often regretful after enacting said revenge.

He doesn't want to do any work that he sees as beneath him and often relies on others to do dirty work for him.

Rather than confronting his issues head-on, he tends to instead run away from them through hedonistic activities such drinking, sex, and partying.

Having his title as a Gamaliel denounced humbled Soleil, and he realized that it was largely his fault that he was alienated from his family. Aside from his dad, he stopped hating his family and regrets the bond with them which was severed.

This also caused him to realize just how spiteful, selfish, and arrogant he was. Titles do nothing to honor you if you are a terrible person. On top of that, he now holds the same status as any other peasant. While begrudgingly at first, he will begin to accept work he previously thought was beneath him, and will begin making efforts to be kinder towards his friends, as well as normal people in general.

He used to see peasants as being beneath him and looks upon activities and foods common amongst peasants with scorn - he is slowly coming around to see peasants more as equals since he's basically been thrown down to their level.

He's very intelligent and perceptive. He's also a decent writer, although he is very secretive about his writing and doesn't allow anyone else to read it. He DEFINITELY writes embarrassing romance stories.

Soleil loves drinking and partying, as well as fashion. He also enjoys writing and archery.

He can be a bit of a bully at times and enjoys getting people flustered or embarrassed. When he has a crush on someone, he does this tenfold. He also hates flirting and is very shy when it comes to romance and sex. Basically he's a tsundere.
