Kay is at the Academy to be a guard, although they have no interest in the career. Their true love is cooking, but they come from a long line of guards and are afraid to go against the traditions of their culture, since it's bad luck to do so. They yearn to travel to other planets and learn their cooking techniques, but instead try to content themself with their future as a guard. They're fun-loving and impulsive, and very easily bored. They're also something of a show-off, and love to show their strength, even if they don't intend to use it in their career.

To somehow get out of the Academy and become a chef.

Kay Carth is the child of two esteemed guards. As a Kreeli (colloquially known as stone-fey despite not being fey) from Kreel, they are one of few aliens at the Academy, which they were invited to due to their strength and strong family line. They have little interest in being a royal guard, but are afraid of breaking the tradition, which has deadly consequences in Kreeli culture.
Not the best student, mostly due to a lack of attention to detail.
