Traits

Spoils

The Orbo is a symbol of childlike innocence and anyone who would willingly hunt one is considered a soulless monster. However, Orbos are often killed or trampled by dinosaurs and they leave behind rich meat and fruity-tasting gelatinous flesh.

Sounds

Orbos make a sort of low and elongated barking sound.

Weaknesses

Orbos are very soft and squishy.

Strengths

Orbos are very bouncy and move rather quickly when they need to.

Maximum speed

On account of their short legs, Orbos cannot run very fast, but when they're bouncing or rolling, they can move as fast as a racehorse.

Methods of defense

When an Orbo is being attacked, it will bounce and/or roll away, often maneuvering into areas something larger than it would not be able to reach. Some also approach people for protection.

Method of attack

Orbos do not attack.

Aggressiveness

Orbos are completely passive and will run from any oncoming threat.

Habitat

Herding patterns

Orbos rely on safety in numbers and can be found in groups anywhere from 6 to 80 individuals.

Preferred habitat

Orbos prefer sparse forests - areas with space for them to move around but not enough for large predators. These areas also provide a lot of fruit and berries. Some Orbos also settle in wide open plains.

Food sources

An Orbo's diet mostly consists of large quantities of fruit, but they sometimes eat honey, tree sap, and handouts from people.

Migratory patterns

Many people living in the northern parts of Avlita and Zahara build shelters specifically for Orbos to live in during winter. Orbos rely on these shelters to survive, and if they cannot find one, they will seek out some other warm area. Being exposed to the cold will damage an Orbo's gelatinous skin.

Reproductive patterns

Orbos reach maturity at about four years of age. Their gestation period lasts for nine months and they mate during summer and give birth during spring. They mate for life and have one child every 2-4 years. Females stop being fertile at about 19-23 years of age. Their average lifespan is 28-35 years.
