The leaves of the Scouring Bush contain a large concentration of several essential oils. These essential oils have disinfectant properties. These oils, combined with the plants rough leave surface and fibrous composition make it excellent for personal cleaning and hygiene.
The leaves are often used for this by the tribes of the Spread when soap is unavailable.
These properties evolved to prevent herbivores from eating them.

Grows across the grasslands and under light tree cover. Prefers bright light and open spaces. Tends to grow alone, not in groups.
