Saika Red Government

Description

A large but well organized government. Extremely corrupt.

view_list

Structure

Type Of Government

Dictatorship. Large, well organized. Autocracy, no elections.

Power Structure

There’s one central figurehead - seen officially by the people as the ‘leader.’ This leader makes all announcements, speeches, to the people.
But Saika Red has a larger government than just one person. The large government has fallen into a hierarchy, as with many types of governments.

The *Upper Caste, is made up of those immediately beneath the Leader. In the Upper Caste sits the Deputy, who is personally chosen by the Leader. In the event that the Leader becomes incapacitated, the Deputy shall take control, until the Castes can decide a new leader.

Although the Deputy is usually chosen in the end, historical changes have occurred - most likely, it ends up being someone from one of the Castes.

There is also the Middle Caste and Lower Caste. The Middle Caste is slightly larger than the Lower Caste. Individuals from the Middle Caste may bring people from the Lower Caste into theirs, a ‘promotion’, so to speak. But such promotions are not handed out freely. Often, in exchange for ridding someone of a pesky enemy or exchange of important information (that could be used for blackmail), these promotions may be handed to. The Upper Caste is the smallest, and only with the judgement of the Leader can members of this Caste bring someone up.

Members of the Castes are made up of average people, and the not-so average. Some were born in richness (a rareness in Saika Red, as the country has never had a good economy), others were not. In the end, if you hope to climb the ranks — you must have friends in high places, and be willing to show that you won’t be afraid to discard old attachments for your new position.

Typically, the word of a member of the Upper Caste is worth the most, and Middle Caste over the Lower Caste, Lower Caste over the rest of the people.

Privacy Ideologies

Very little privacy. Almost everything is monitored by the government, including the economy. Private industry is outlawed. The most privacy one receives is if they’re apart of the government OR considered important by it (secrets that cannot escape the state)

Process

Electoral Process

While no official elections take place in Saika Red, the leader is obviously not immortal.
In the event of a death, the leader’s Deputy shall immediately take over. The rest of the Castes will get to work in deciding a new leader. On average, it can take a little over a week; but each day and night is worked through tirelessly, with very little breaks in each day.
Typically, the Deputy is chosen, but there have been some exemptions from this rule.

Term Lengths

No enforced term length - the end of a term is considered to be ‘stepping down’, or death

Criminal System

Considering that the category of which Saika Red spends the second most in is law in order, it would make sense that the nation supports an extremely effective law enforcement, placing itself in top 4% of the world, and top 13% in its region.
While these stats may initially look good, one must remember there is no court in Saika Red. The nation is corrupt, and known criminals have been recruited into the government when they offer a particular skillset that could be of use.
The nation also enforces death penalty, and occasionally broadcasts these executions live. While not all criminals are falsely accused, some are — one can also assume that some unfortunate citizens haven’t been able to prove their innocence, and may have been victims of these executions.
While effective in enforcing a low crime rate, the system is not without its faults, and those faults happen to be quite a few. So it’s no surprise that the innocent get swept up in it.

Approval Ratings

In Saika Red, you either approve of the government…or go missing.

Political freedom is very rare in Saika Red. Certainly, the citizens are still polled annually, but Saika Red has maintained at least 95% in approval ratings from its citizens for a very long time. The people think very highly of their government!

International Relations

Saika Red has received some flak (criticism! Not the air defense kind) from other nations about their quick-to-militarize responses (shoot first, ask questions later. and even then, Saika Red is a very stubborn nation) and human rights problems. They’re not great.

But, Saika Red has ‘good’ relationships with some smaller nations; usually nations that are also similar to Saika Red (low political freedoms, human rights issues, etc). Saika Red is known to defend these nations vehemently, so one can at least say Saika Red is a good nation when it comes to its allies.

Civilian Life

Saika Red has a very high tax rate for its income; 76.6%, and even higher for the wealthy. The average income is 92,372 lire (lire, Saika Red currency), spread evenly between richest and poorest citizens. Civilians in Saika Red may go to school, but are usually only going there for a specific job (such as working in the factory). Prodigies in Saika Red may be noticed, and they’ll go to a ‘smarter’ job.
The average citizen does not move around much in their life. Once they have their job, that’s about it - a whole lot of working, and taking care of their own family. Civilians in Saika Red are expected to follow the laws and pay their (high) taxes, and be a model citizen.

Military

The military in Saika Red is incredibly important. Notably, Saika Red’s police force is very ‘militarized’, although the two are both ‘separate entities’.

Saika Red boasts a large military, at around top 2% in the world and top 10% in its region. The quality of the military can be contested, but it has no shortage of troops, as all citizens must complete mandatory service. About 33.5% of Saika Red’s government expenditures go into defense. (this encompasses their navy and airforce as well)

Space Program

Saika Red has a space program, although it’s less focused on exploration, and more ‘being able to monitor other people from space,’ and the possibility of being able to attack from space as well.

Notes

Notes

Saika Red is one of my nations from Nation States and my own personal challenge to try and create the WORST nation possible. All the information on this page is taken from the actual NS page with minor adjustments to make it easier for reading, and some adjustments to account for worldbuilding as well!
Additionally, when I use statistics (like how Saika Red’s law enforcement is top 4% in the world,) these are all stats from the Nation States game; not real life.

The currency in Saika Red is called Lire.

Saika Red is a nation that claims the legal right to use Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs)

The leading causes of death in Saika Red are…
- disappearance (47.6%)
- cancer (26.6%)
- involuntary euthanasia (12.8%)
- heart disease (9.8%)
- war (2.5%)
- suicide while in police custody (0.5%)
- accident (0.1%)
