One thing I learned a recent trip to the Light’s Wrath training academe is that the history of your ancient organization is almost never taught, but is instead replaced with more fighting classes. There is nothing wrong with that in your line of work, and I can understand the need to get more people out quicker, but it is a pity that more do not know of the 250 year history of the Lights’ Wrath Organization. Founded by ancestors of the Empress, the Light's Wrath brought together every race into one common goal... Survival.
Together they carved out the country and built the Wall. (much of what happened before the
Wall is lost or legend so I will skip ahead). With the wall built the Organization went from being fighters to defenders. It was exclusively the job of the LW to defend the Wall and the people inside. For two and a half centuries a Light’s Wrath Reaper was what the monsters looked under their beds for at night.
The Organization, or rather respect of the Organization, is the direct reason that Direwall survived the years. There's a story of a notorious goblin airship pirate held up a major shipping line only to realize that he was holding up Light’s Wrath supply ships. The goblin released every ship he had taken as he said “out of respect for our protectors.” (this was definitely out of respect and not because of the two LW battleships that were on the way).
After the Great Collapse all that remained of the Light's Wrath was the recruits that were
training in Diremourne, a few veteran teachers, and a few thousand scattered survivors. The veterans rebuilt what was left of the Light’s Wrath and aided in the building of the New Wall. Because of the the bravery of the Organization, Direwall was protected again and able to defend against the onslaught of the newly organized monsters.
