The Order, the Scholars

Lead by a High Alchemist, appointed by the last High Alchemist before his death. Everyone else, philosopher or alchemist, is equal.

The alchemists exist to serve the Commonwealth in terms of science, and the philosophers exist to find moral truths

Neither group knows exactly how to achieve their goals, but they do have leads.

Alchemy involves a lot of fire, which poses a hazard to the safety and clothing of the alchemists.

Philosophers are in danger of questioning the divine or giving up entirely

Vials of multiple chemicals, such as oils, vinegar, and fat, are all stored carefully in the so called 'pantry'.

An abundance of rare minerals, such as emeralds, sapphires, and silver, are kept in a small underground vault.
