Paper bird
Magic
Enchanted origami used for rapid communication. Basically, you write a note on it, write the recipient's name, and it flies right to them. Formerly in common use by the Harpers of Waterdeep, but discontinued for being too conspicuous. Mirt is the only person we know who still uses them on a regular basis.

Notes
Known Examples
- Smoke on the Water found one, inert, on the second floor of the Candle Lane Warehouse. He later asked Renaer Neverember if it belonged to him, which Renaer denied. Who it belonged to, and how it got there, remain unknown. He has not yet asked Mirt about it.
- Thernek Clockmort was given one by Mirt at Lightsinger Theater. Later, he and Smoke used it to ask Mirt about the identity of the suspicious figure in Box 2 ("Piergeiron"). Mirt claims he sent a prompt reply by bird, but Smoke never received it; they believe it was intercepted by agents of the House of the Dark Blade. (For this reason, paper birds should not be considered a secure line of communication.)
