Overview
Aegis Armor System
Nanotech Suit of Armor
This is the human-configured version of the Armor used commonly throughout the Realm.
(It's kinda like if you crossed Iron Man Nanosuits with the Spartan Mjolnir armor from Halo.)
(It will also stand in for naming a type of Armor for EVERY species)
Looks
Nanites
Usually built with material known to the user, as the input comes from the wearers mind.
It is power armor, so it often weighs in excess of 500lbs, but since it is powered, the user doesn't need to be able to lift that.
The gauntlet weighs about 4 lbs.
It is full body armor, and is configured to give overlapping, redundant layers of protection to the wearer. it often adds about 8" of height, as well as bulking up the wearer by an extra 400-500+lbs.
It's Big.
But it does compact down, with the nanites collapsing to gauntlet size, looking like a glove that comes just past the wrist.
The coloration depends on the wearer, but always includes identifying marks about Rank and Role. These marks can cause important individuals to be targeted, so they are often camouflaged by the use of cosmetic designs.
History
3 PE (Post-Enlightenment)
The Aegis is the human version of the Yurellia Armor that the Yedsvir wear. (Interestingly enough, this armor is responsible for 'Angels' having 'halos'.) The Yedsvir gifted prototypes to Earth to experiment with, and the North Atlantic Nation modified it for humanity, with the help of the Russian Federation. The first viable, commonly used iteration included the Suit Suite 'Zeus'.
Abilities
The Aegis is a nanotech suit of armor. A neural uplink is used to control the armor functions, via interaction with the suit's Zeus. (The uplink often looks like a cochlear implant.) The suit nanites flow like liquid over the wearer's body, before hardening, changing the molecular structure to have the same rigidity and hardness as whatever material the wearer desires. Most humans go with a blended steel/diamond alloy, but some may go with other options, such as Likash enamel. The suit is with the wearer whenever they are on active duty, and is worn as a gauntlet on the off-hand. The wearer can configure the suit to take any form it wishes, but should be aware of the material needs of the desired form. The suit can also perform limited large weapons functions, and limitless small arms functions, so that the user is never without a weapon of some sort, as long as they have the Aegis with them. The Zeus will function as long as any bit of armor the size of the gauntlet is active. As long as the wearer can think, the armor will function. In the event the wearer is incapacitated, but the armor is viable, the Zeus can run limited functions. In the event of the loss of the neural uplink, the Aegis can work on voice activation.
