Yara's blade is made exclusively from mythril, a mystical gem that was abundant on Conarith's home world and the crafting material of choice for strange creatures known as Moogles. Mythril blades are known to be harder than even diamonds and have great magical properties, making them perfect conduits for magic-users.
The hilt is made from stainless steel.

Conarith found the knife in her father's study after her world was destroyed by the Heartless. It was apparently gifted to him by the Moogles. Conarith took it because she needed a weapon to defend herself and was not thinking about it's importance at the time.
