Overview
Ziravest Ruins
The parts of Ziravest that have been rendered dangerous and uninhabitable after the senile god Calcifus laid waste to it.
Ruined Ziravest
Whereabouts
Appearance
Having been a large district beforehand, Ziravest Ruins takes up about 103 square miles, almost 15% of Qualia's area.
History
When the Nerine Kingdom attacked Qualia, decades ago, a large team of powerful mages known as the Barrier Maidens came to the city-state's defense. They planned to create a large, nigh-impenetrable barrier around the entire city-state.
However, the Barrier Maidens soon found that despite their power, they could only form a powerful barrier large enough to protect roughly half the city.
Why they chose to leave most of the poorer districts relatively defenseless, nobody knows for sure. Some say the wealthiest citizens paid them to form the barrier around the wealthier half of the city. Others figure that the Barrier Maidens were told to prioritize protecting the government buildings first, of which the majority happened to be located in the wealthier half, anyway.
Whatever their reasons, the Barrier Maidens were successful in keeping the Nerine Kingdom from annexing Qualia. However, the districts left unprotected were rendered little more than ruins, for the most part.
Eventually, people living outside of these ruins stopped calling them by individual districts and instead grouped them up into Ziravest, the name of the largest district to be ruined.
