Region

The Âmalij Outlands are mostly tundra and steppe. Settlements are small and isolated, often not knowing each other's locations and any trade being facilitated by migratory mammoth herders at specific times of the year. Although geographically part of Âmaliâ, the Outlands are often said to be independent, which in reality means that citizens of the Outlands are effectively stateless.

Each village usually has its own set of laws, but these are mostly based on the same cultural values.

Âmalij gera is accepted throughout the Outlands, but without access to the Âmalij Central Bank the currency is unreliable. Other currencies are often accepted and goods may be traded directly.

Both Sobakaâ and Ashis are spoken.

The Outlands are very cold with permafrost in the north and the possibility of snow even during the summer.

No edible plants can be grown in the Outlands. The Outlands diet is entirely meat.

The Âmalij Outlands received vaccinations from Âmaliâ, so when they were banned, the Outlands lost their supply. They managed to get through the resulting epidemic relatively unscathed by isolating themselves.
