Overview
The Floating Island
An Islands
That's Floating
Being above water level, The Floating Island is the only part of the caves vastness that is visible. It resides in the center of the vast whole which is the entrance to the cave, however, is too far away to reach with any method. It is so far away, you cannot see the bustling nature that grows from it. At night it gives off a soft glow. To the humans, it is the only reminder that magic resides far below, but to the creatures of the cave, it is a festival plaza. Climbing the thick roots from the depths, or flying, are the only ways to reach the island.
Culture
The mages language is the ever evolving language all races speak. Humans stopped evolving it when they separated themselves from magic.
No one lives there, but its provides a place for people of all ages to simply enjoy the nature and the flora. Aloisia also stashes all the books she comes across (that she isnt petty enough to keep for herself) in a cluster of the roots coming from the bottom of the island thanks to the massive tree (see more in geography). Those books are often sought out by the children of the cave.
Geography
The opening of the cave is in the middle of a gap in the ocean which spans farther than the eye can see, and is deep enough that the darkness appears to pull you in. Despite the massive ring of furious water falls, in the middle stands an island, to far away to reach. At night, it glows.
Nature grows wild and untamed on the top, with one massive tree whose massive root system stretches below the underside of the island itself, reaching the caves floor at the shallowest point of the cave itself. This root system provides a way for the creatures of the cave to access the floating island. The tree itself is what provides the islands magic, and whats keeps it from floating away entirely. The tree is also the only plant that provide a large, juicy fruit that appears in its branches on once every 5 years.
The middle of the caves entrance.
It has the weather or the northern Atlantic Ocean. Wind currents often make the island sway.
