A desert with blood red sands (while the whole of The Great Dunes has red sand the sand of the West Dunes is a true blood red rather than the dull rusty colour of other regions). Scientists from the East Dunes (Li) believe the higher iron levels in the sand are behind its striking colour.

Towering dunes make up the majority of its landscape but in the North of the region is an area known as Baket (Barren Waste) that is a dry shrubland has long been claimed by both the North Dunes and the West resulting in several large scale conflicts over the years.
