Spire of Kantor
Island
Previously a very wealthy Dwarven city. It's primary export was Dirgensteel which was mined from a vast cave system beneath the island. When deposits ran low, the dwarves strip mined haphazardly. Dwarven earth shamans warned local leaders of the dangers of the mines collapsing. Collapsing mines would flood them and the sea would threaten to swallow the island. Their pleas for conservation fell on deaf ears and as the caves soon began to collapse, a powerful dwarven earth shaman by the name of Gruin sacrificed himself during a ritual to save the city from certain doom. With his sacrifice, the city was lifted from the sea on stone hands, which now serve as a religious site and a cenotaph for Gruin.

History
Kantor was originally a remote island inhabited by indigenous dwarves. Having no other means of harvesting building materials, the dwarves dug deep below their city. The tunnels stretched far underground and dwarfed the city above it. After a large earthquake, the mines threatened to collapse and swallow the whole of Kantor before filling itself with sea water. A brave dwarf by the name of Gruin, a stonespeaker, communed with the rock of the caves and bound himself to it. In one swift motion, an enormous earthen spire rose from the caves, lifting the entire city of Kantor nearly a mile above the sea, and preventing it from certain doom. Gruin remained trapped in the remains of the old cave system, locked in his stone prison to ensure the spire would never fall. In honor of his sacrifice, the dwarves of Kantor chiseled his likeliness from the spire so that all those who travel to Kantor bear witness to their savior.
Notes
Gruin has since been freed from his stone prison by his brother Graunty along with the PC party.
