History
The first people to live on Mars moved there in 2973. Once it was made more pleasant and less harsh of an environment, a large wave of humans moved there, excited about the idea of being one of the first to live in space.
In 1610, Galileo Galilei became the first person to view Mars through a telescope (though many probably knew of it's existence before then). The first people to move there was 1363 years later, in 2973.
The Milky Way civil war, commonly known as the Candy war people on Mars due to the popularity of the Milky Way candy. Though Mars wasn't impacted too harshly, the fight for resources took a massive toll on Earth, which supplies Mars with 97% of it's food.
