Geography
Large, mainly deciduous (though also some coniferous) forests, with a small coastal plain in the south of the peninsula.
Potatoes, Berries, Squash, some grains, a few fruits. More fertile than the North.
South of the known New World
Temperate climate, slightly on the cold side, though warmer than in New Hadynal. The sky is typically overcast, a dull grey sheet of cloud obscuring the sun. Roughly once a month massive storms roll across the region, gale force winds buffeting the coast, and on rare occasions, these storms bring hail, flung from the sky at deadly speeds, cutting down those not able to seek adequate shelter in the woods or their homes. Winter is often accompanied by moderate snowfall, something the Ardielian colonists have had a very hard time dealing with.
History
A lone eccentric nobleman set sail almost a century ago, hoping to find a new world. He accidentally stumbled upon the continent, and met with the native peoples there. He sailed back home to inform his king, who soon fitted another expedition, within a decade a small colony had been established, and settlers began to flock to this new rich land. However, the colonists were never able to meet the native people, as they vanished without a trace sometime after the first expedition.
Numerous skirmishes with the rival colony of New Hadynal to the north.
