The ability to manipulate darkness and shadows

Allows the user to manipulate shadows and darkness at will. This includes making existing darkness more potent, wrapping themselves up in shadows, and even shaping shadows into various shapes.

Your average umbramage will be able to make existing shadows and darkness even darker, but will have difficulty in shaping them beyond 2D shapes. Effects are dispelled with sufficient light cast onto them.

Skilled umbramages can do the above as well as shape shadows into 3D shapes. In addition, these effects are less easily dispelled by light.

Unless the user is exceptionally powerful, anything shaped from shadows will be non-corporeal to everybody besides the umbramage. Effects can be dispelled via photomancy and/or sufficient light.

In order to use umbramancy, there must be darkness and/or shadows nearby.

Because umbramancy requires shadows and/or darkness to be used. Umbramages often carry umbrellas or other items that cast large shadows.

Only mages born with this ability will be able to use it.

General elemental training is required before umbramancy can be used with any degree of skill.
