One of two types of Elemental Energy sometimes called the elements of morality, the other being Dark Magic. Falls under Old Magic. Glows white when pure.

Spells of Light and Darkness derive their power from the corresponding morality cores powering the Balance of Light and Darkness in the caster's Soul, rather than a separate core used specifically for casting. By convention, the diluted energy that leaves the body is sometimes written using lowercase letters (light and darkness) to differentiate it from the pure energy found in the soul (Light and Darkness), as the two serve different purposes.

Once light energy has left the soul, it gives off constant white light and can manifest in different ways, such as a floating sphere of light, or a brilliant laser beam. It burns hotter than Fire Magic when touched, but its heat doesn't travel very far. More mundanely, it can be made to glow brightly without increasing in temperature, rendering it an effective everyday light source.

Light and dark energy are natural opposites, and if one touches the other, the two will be annihilated.

If light energy touches the skin, it will be drawn to the Energy Channels in the body, hurting the target's ability to cast spells and sometimes even interfering with the passage of Life Force. A being with a greater amount of Darkness in their soul will be more affected by spells of light.

Because Light energy is present in some amount in every soul, everything with a soul is theoretically capable of wielding it with the proper training, although it can be harder to learn later in life and its strength is directly proportional to the amount of Light in the caster's soul.
